PGNiG TERMIKA SA, headquartered in Warsaw, concluded in December 2017 an agreement with IB SYSTEMS Sp. z o.o. an agreement for the execution of works consisting in the installation (expansion of the current system) of fixed fire extinguishing equipment on the coal handling lines based on the installation of a high-pressure water mist (Extinguishing System), the installation (expansion of the current system) of an early fire detection system on the coal handling lines based on a fibre optic, DTS linear heat detector and Adicos fuel gas detection (Detection System), as well as the extension of the Demos integrated fire safety management system (Supervision System), enabling visualisation and control of the extinguishing system and detection system at the Siekierki Power Plant.
The subject of the contract included the development of the systems and the supply of all system components, design and commissioning.
"The plant (EC Siekierki) has been in operation since 1961. It is the largest thermal power plant in Poland and the second largest in Europe. Its thermal power is 2068 MW and electrical power is 622 MW.
The CHP plant has a heat accumulator with a capacity of 30,400 m3 of mains water - the first such large facility in Poland. The plant has modern installations: wet flue gas desulphurisation MIOS and flue gas denitrification SCR. All coal-fired boilers are equipped with high-efficiency electrostatic precipitators, which keep dust emissions to around 50 per cent of the level allowed by Polish air protection standards."
